In January 2025, the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) hosted the “Post COP Dialogue on the Operationalization of Article 6 of the Paris Agreement: The Road from Baku to Belém” in Islamabad. The event focused on the outcomes of COP29, particularly the implementation of Article 6, which establishes frameworks for international carbon markets to facilitate cooperative approaches to emission reductions.
Representatives from the National Electric Transport Company (NETC) participated in the event, showcasing their initiatives in sustainable transportation and exploring opportunities to align their electric mobility projects with global carbon market mechanisms. NETC emphasized its commitment to reducing carbon emissions through the adoption of electric vehicles in Pakistan and expressed interest in contributing to national and regional climate action strategies.
Discussions at the event highlighted the importance of robust monitoring and validation systems for carbon markets, with a special focus on leveraging innovative projects like NETC to attract investments and meet climate change targets.
